As a regular attendee of Hendon area forum, I am appalled by Councillor Brian Gordon's letter in your paper last week (Forum flack is absurd', Times Series, July 3) How dare he accuse residents of "disrupting" the forum? The whole point of these events is that, for a couple of hours, Barnet Council does the unthinkable - listens to residents.

I am proud that Councillor Brian Gordon calls me Andrew Dismore's personal assistant, but the fact remains that I am a teacher in a secondary school and I attend the area forum regularly because, as a resident myself, I feel passionately about the issues raised at the forum.

Police are trying to establish whether a seven-year-old boy was driving a car which overturned.
For some of us the year from hell has just ended. We are the lucky ones. For some of us it might go on for another few weeks, months, years. What am I going on about? Well if like me you’ve got a child completing year 6, you might just know. This is the year we all dread.
When Mrs S joined the Citizens' Advice Bureau at West Hendon many moons ago her first "client", unbelievably, was a Chinese sea captain living on the Grahame Park Estate at Colindale seeking advice about getting a do-it-yourself divorce.
I sure was braving the elements when I went for my final training run before the mighty 5km this Saturday. It was one of those moments when my "fight or flight" instinct was put to use - do I power through the slight breeze and impending drizzle or do I retreat through the security of my front door and settle back on the couch?
Apparently around now the baby can start hearing sounds. I have heard that if you read the same book over and over to the child it might end up becoming its favourite story even before it’s born.
Barnet's full council meetings, the latest of which took place on Wednesday evening, are not exactly a shining beacon of democracy.
